Thanks to recent changes in EU legislation every food product sold to the public in the UK that contains palm oil must have ‘palm oil’ listed on the packaging. Some will state that their palm oil is certified sustainable but others don’t.
With your help, we’re creating a list of manufacturers that are committed to using only 100% certified sustainable palm oil in their products (data from RSPO ACOP reports, 2017).
So when you’re next doing your shopping have a look through our shopping list – you can then swap unsustainable products for sustainable ones just by looking at the labels. We’ll be adding more amazing companies who’ve made the switch as we find them so keep checking back. If you notice anything that is incorrect please get in touch with us to let us know.
What can you do?
Check your labels: if you know of a product that contains sustainable palm oil and it isn’t on our sustainable palm oil shopping list then you can add it by:
- Email Send a photo or the name of the product to firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll add it to our list.
- Twitter Take a photo of the product and tweet it to us @ActforWildlife #palmoilchallenge.
- In the zoo Bring the packaging to our Guest Services Pavilion and we’ll add it to our list.
If you love a product but aren’t sure if it contains sustainable palm oil then get in touch and we’ll find out for you. Or if you’re a company who already sources 100% CSPO and would like to be included in our brand list, please get in touch.
